PROVIA FRONT DOORS IN PHOENIX, AZ

Signet and Ascent fiberglass or Legacy steel front doors from ProVia, built to the size of your opening and finished at the factory. Free, no-pressure estimates.

What It Is

ProVia Front Doors, Now From Honest View Windows

Honest View Windows now offers ProVia entry doors to homeowners across the Phoenix area, along with ProVia windows. ProVia is a family-owned company in Sugarcreek, Ohio, founded in 1977, and it sells through local installing companies rather than home improvement stores.

A ProVia door arrives as a complete entry system: the door hung in its frame and finished at the factory, with the sill, threshold, hinges and weatherstripping already in place and matching touch-up paint in the box. Each door is made to the size of your opening in 1/8 inch steps, and the inside and outside can have different styles and finishes.

The Three Lines

Signet, Ascent and Legacy Entry Doors

ProVia makes two fiberglass door lines and one steel line. In ProVia's own words, fiberglass comes closest to the grain of real wood and is the top replacement choice for homes, and steel is the best choice for owners most concerned with security.

Fiberglass, the most styles and finishes

Signet

Signet is ProVia's most popular entry door, with the widest choice of styles and the most ways to customize it. Its fiberglass skins carry woodgrain textures (mahogany, cherry, oak, knotty alder and fir) or come smooth for paint. Inside, the stiles and rails are dovetailed and glued at each corner, the door edges are cherry, mahogany or oak, and the hinge and lock sides are finger-jointed hardwood.

Signet doors are finished with ProVia's DuraFuse system in 33 paint colors, 20 stains and 7 glazes, and the finish is warranted for 15 years against flaking, checking, blistering or peeling. All Signet doors without glass are ENERGY STAR certified, as are most with glass, and ProVia lists a U-factor as low as 0.16 for a six-panel Signet system.

  • Material: fiberglass skins over hardwood stiles, 1 3/4 inches thick
  • Skins: Mahogany, Cherry, Oak, Knotty Alder, Fir or Smooth
  • Finish: 33 paint colors, 20 stains, 7 glazes; 15 year finish warranty
  • Threshold: Z-AC with an auto-adjusting riser
  • The only line with vented sidelites that open for fresh air

Fiberglass, a white oak look, new in 2026

Ascent

Ascent is ProVia's newest door line, launched in 2026 with more than 30 styles and made to look like white oak. It comes with a White Oak woodgrain skin, wide or traditional grain depending on the door style, or a smooth skin with a light brushed texture for paint. ProVia says its fiberglass skin is thicker than many doors on the market, for better impact resistance.

Each Ascent door has wood stiles on both sides, reinforced corners, glued and dowel-pinned construction, and a composite bottom rail that resists rot and moisture, with foam spacers in the bottom corners to keep water out. It comes in 7 White Oak stains, from Roasted Cashew to Espresso, or 33 paint colors, with a 10 year finish warranty. ProVia says most Ascent doors can be ENERGY STAR certified.

  • Material: fiberglass with wood stiles and a composite bottom rail
  • Skins: White Oak or Smooth
  • Finish: 7 stains or 33 paint colors; 10 year finish warranty
  • Styles: more than 30

Steel, built for security

Legacy

Legacy is ProVia's steel door, the line ProVia points to for owners most concerned with security. It's built from 20-gauge steel, which ProVia says is 49% more steel than a 24-gauge door, with the face and edges formed from one continuous piece. A thermal barrier cuts heat transfer, ProVia's tab and slot interlocks hold the door together, and a composite lock block sits behind the lock.

The steel is hot-dipped galvannealed to resist rust inside and out. ProVia notes that a scratch through that coating can rust if it isn't primed and painted, and that dents can be pulled and filled with an auto-body repair kit. Legacy comes smooth, embossed or woodgrain textured, in 33 paint colors or 7 stains, with a 10 year finish warranty. All Legacy doors without glass are ENERGY STAR certified, as are most with glass, with a U-factor as low as 0.17 for a six-panel system.

  • Material: 20-gauge galvannealed steel, one-piece face and edges
  • Textures: Smooth, High-Definition or Shaker embossed, or Woodgrain
  • Finish: 33 paint colors or 7 stains; 10 year finish warranty
  • Sizes: custom widths and heights up to 8 feet

Fiberglass or Steel

Fiberglass or Steel: How ProVia Compares Them

ProVia makes both, and its product manager for entry doors compares them on a few points:

  • Look. Fiberglass comes closest to the grain of real wood. Steel comes smooth or with a woodgrain texture.
  • Upkeep. Fiberglass is the lowest upkeep, resists dents and scratches, and cleans with mild soap and water. Steel is low upkeep too, but a scratch through its galvanized coating can rust if it isn't primed and painted.
  • Durability. Fiberglass doesn't shrink, warp, split, crack or delaminate the way wood can.
  • Security. ProVia calls steel the best solution for owners concerned with security, and says solid fiberglass is much more secure than wood.
  • Cost. ProVia says steel is very affordable next to wood, while fiberglass can cost about the same as wood or a good deal more, depending on the model, glass and hardware.

Both carry ProVia's lifetime limited warranty and both can be ENERGY STAR certified. ProVia's own conclusion is that either one gives you looks, efficiency, durability and security, and that the kind of home, your security needs and the cost decide it. Read ProVia's full comparison.

Door Glass

Door Glass, Privacy and Sun Control

Most ProVia door styles can have glass, in the door itself, in sidelites beside it or in a transom above. The choices:

  • Clear, low-E or tinted glass. ProVia says gray tint gives excellent glare control and protection against fading inside, and bronze adds UV protection. Tint is available on every door, sidelite and transom with glass.
  • Privacy glass in eight styles, which ProVia says helps keep heat out in warmer months, and three silk screen designs.
  • Decorative glass in 17 designs, each with a privacy rating, plus wrought iron and art glass. One design, Tacoma, mixes thin reeded glass with a Southwestern beveled pattern.
  • Blinds sealed between the panes, for blocking harsh sunlight. They can meet ENERGY STAR with certain glass packages.
  • Glass trim that ProVia warrants not to warp, crack or pull away from the door, even in sunny or high temperature spots.

Glass sealed with ProVia's Super Spacer, which covers most of its decorative, art, privacy and low-E glass, carries a lifetime warranty that includes breakage.

ENERGY STAR

ENERGY STAR Front Doors for the Arizona Heat

ENERGY STAR sets door limits by how much glass the door has, and Phoenix is in its Southern zone, which only changes the rule for doors that are more than half glass. These are the limits from ProVia's ENERGY STAR chart. U-factor is how much heat passes through the door; SHGC is how much of the sun's heat comes in through the glass. Lower is better for both.

DoorU-factorSHGC
No glass0.17 or lowerNot rated
Half glass or less0.23 or lower0.23 or lower
More than half glass, Southern zone0.28 or lower0.23 or lower

ProVia says all Signet and Legacy doors without glass are ENERGY STAR certified and most with glass are too, and that most Ascent doors can be. Its catalog lists a U-factor as low as 0.16 for a six-panel Signet system and 0.17 for Legacy. With glass, the rating depends on the glass package, so ask which package a door needs to qualify. ProVia keeps that list for its dealers, and every rated door is in the NFRC directory.

The seal matters as much as the door. ProVia's weatherstripping interlocks with its CornerShield corner pads, a bulb and dual blade sweep closes the gap at the bottom, and the Z-AC threshold's riser adjusts itself to keep air and water out.

Colors

Paint, Stain and Finish Colors

ProVia finishes its doors at the factory. All three lines come in the same 33 paint colors, 20 standard and 13 trending, and stained doors get a clear coat with UV inhibitors. Signet adds 20 stains and 7 glazes, Ascent has 7 White Oak stains, and Legacy has 7 stains.

One warranty detail matters for darker colors in the sun. If the outside of a PermaTech frame and its brickmold are painted, ProVia's warranty asks for a color with a light reflectance value (LRV) of 57 or higher, on a scale where 100 is white and 0 is black. ProVia's pages don't say anything else about dark colors in desert heat, so if you want a dark door on a wall that takes the afternoon sun, bring it up at the estimate.

Sizes and Frames

Sidelites, Transoms and 8 Foot Doors

ProVia doors come as a single door, double doors, or a door with sidelites beside it and a transom above, made to the size of your opening.

8 foot tall doors come in select Signet and Ascent fiberglass styles and several Legacy smooth steel styles. Every 8 foot door gets a fourth hinge, and fiberglass 8 foot doors need a multi-point lock.

Vented sidelites, on Signet doors with FrameSaver frames, open with a quarter turn of a knob to let air through, with their own multi-point lock and an optional screen. The post between the door and the sidelite can be taken out to move large furniture through.

ProVia offers four frames: FrameSaver, FusionFrame (its most popular), PermaTech, which ProVia says won't absorb moisture, rot or splinter, and an 18-gauge steel L-frame with a 12-gauge hinge plate for extra strength.

Locks and Hardware

Locks, Hardware and Security

Every ProVia entry system comes with three heavy-duty ball bearing hinges and a 20-gauge steel security plate, which ProVia includes for extra strength and to help prevent kick-ins.

Hardware comes from Schlage, Emtek, Hoppe and Trilennium. ProVia offers multi-point locks, which latch the door at several points along its edge for a tighter close and seal than a single lock, and Schlage keypad and Wi-Fi smart deadbolts. Schlage, Emtek and Hoppe finishes carry a lifetime warranty, and Schlage electronics are covered for 3 years.

Warranty

What ProVia's Entry Door Warranty Covers

ProVia's entry door warranty covers the door against shrinking, warping, splitting, cracking or delaminating for as long as the original buyer owns and lives in the home. It transfers once to the next owner if the transfer is done online within 30 days of the sale.

  • Glass sealed with Super Spacer (most decorative, art, privacy and low-E glass): lifetime, including breakage and seal failure
  • Other glass: 10 years. Blinds between the glass: 20 years in white, 10 in colors, without breakage
  • Factory finish: 15 years on Signet, 10 years on Ascent and Legacy
  • FusionFrame and PermaTech frames: lifetime
  • Threshold, sweep, hinges and weatherstripping: 5 years
  • Schlage, Emtek and Hoppe hardware finishes: lifetime

ProVia's warranty covers the product, not the labor to install a replacement part, and it excludes damage from improper installation. Claims start with the contractor who installed the door. Our own lifetime guarantee on the installation is separate from ProVia's product warranty.

Questions

ProVia Entry Door Questions

How much does a ProVia front door cost?

It depends on the line and material, the glass, any sidelites or transom, the finish, the hardware and the frame. ProVia says steel doors are very affordable next to wood, and that fiberglass can cost about the same as wood or a good deal more depending on the model, glass and hardware. We measure and price your door for free at your house.

What happened to ProVia's Embarq and Heritage doors?

ProVia's website now lists three entry door lines: Signet, Ascent and Legacy. Its Embarq and Heritage pages now forward to its entry doors page, and Ascent, launched in 2026, is its newest fiberglass line.

Where are ProVia doors made?

In Ohio. ProVia builds entry doors at its headquarters in Sugarcreek, Ohio, and at a second plant in Dalton, Ohio.

Can I buy a ProVia door at Home Depot or Lowe's?

No. ProVia says it does not sell through national home improvement retailers or directly to homeowners. Its doors are sold through installing companies, which measure, order and install them.

Is there a tax credit for a new front door?

Not for a door installed now. The IRS says the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit, which used to cover exterior doors, covers improvements made through December 31, 2025.

How long does it take to get a ProVia door?

ProVia builds every door to order, finished and hung in its frame, so it doesn't come off a shelf. ProVia doesn't publish a standard lead time, so ask for the expected delivery date when you get your quote.
